Walk to School events aim to create safer routes for people who walk and bicycle. They also emphasize the importance of issues such as increasing physical activity among children, pedestrian safety, traffic congestion, concern for the environment and building connections between families, schools and the broader community.
Bozeman School District #7, the City of Bozeman, and the Safe Routes to School (SRTS) Task Force are working to ensure the safety of children traveling to and from school. To that end we have started a SRTS program and have received funding from the City of Bozeman, the Montana Department of Transportation and various other sources to support this program. We are in the process of completing school assessments http://www.bozeman.net/bozeman/government/neighborhoods/safeRoute.aspx to better understand the walking and biking environment around all our elementary and middle schools in the district. We need your help to create the best possible Safe Routes to School Program. We would like to hear your thoughts about walking and biking to school. Please help us by completing a brief survey about your family's experiences and opinions regarding walking and biking to school. We'd appreciate hearing from you, whether or not your child currently walks or bikes to school. Please click on the link below to fill out the survey.
The school with the highest survey feedback rate will receive $100 to go towards supplies that make it safer for kids to walk and bike (like helmets/safety stickers, etc.). Also, the school with the best return rate will have a much better chance of being selected for our next grant application to make improvements around that school.
Thank you for any participation you can give to this program. We will be keeping you informed about our progress.
